conhIT 2011 - Connecting Healthcare IT in Europe

conhIT 2011conhIT has become Europe's leading event for healthcare IT and is contributing decisively towards a dialogue on the industry's future. Leading healthcare companies, users, decision-makers in medical and nursing care management, as well as figures representing politics and science will be in Berlin to find out about the latest developments in healthcare IT and to further their knowledge.

Around 4,000 visitors and more than 200 exhibitors are expected to occupy a display area covering more than 11,000 m². Health Minister Dr. Philipp Rösler will act as patron of conhIT 2011 and will be attending as the guest of honour.

Every day doctors and nurses make use of IT systems to help ensure optimum healthcare. In 2008 the German Association of the Healthcare IT Industry (VhitG) launched conhIT - connecting Healthcare IT - to highlight existing solutions, applications and future prospects. In 2011 this successful collaboration involving the German Association of Medical Computer Scientists (BVMI), the German Association for Medical Informatics, Biometry and Epidemiology (GMDS) and VhitG, with the Federal Association of Hospital IT Heads (KH-IT) and the Working Group of the Heads of Medical Computer Centres of University Clinics in Germany (ALKRZ) providing content input, is due to take place for fourth time.

Visitors and exhibitors will benefit from a wide range of information and advanced training opportunities, in combination with an extensive programme of supporting events, which includes discussion rounds, roundtables, themed tours and visits to hospitals.

conhIT has an impressive concept made up of coordinated events: an Industrial Fair, Congress, Academy and networking events.

2011 Industrial Fair
The focus at conhIT is on the Industrial Fair, which presents the healthcare IT industry’s wide range of products and services. Along with established solutions conhIT also features innovations and IT trends in the healthcare system. An increasingly important part is being played by the links with medical technology and telematics. Themed tours of conhIT for trade visitors will highlight new products and solutions on show at conhIT. Dr. Carl Dujat of the BVMI: "No other event currently offers healthcare IT professionals such focused views, and so much information on the latest healthcare IT themes, trends and solutions to current problems."

2011 conhIT Congress
The 2011 conhIT Congress will take a fascinating look at the current aspects of healthcare IT, and alternately highlight the points of view represented by science, industry, users and politics. Simultaneous interpreting into English and German will be available at each of the lectures at the twelve themed Congress sessions. The following are members of the executive committee of the conhIT Congress: Prof. Haas (MDS e.V.), Dr. Dujat (BVMI), Udo Timmermann (ALRKZ) and Andreas Kassner (VHitG). The slogan of the 2011 Congress is "Healthcare IT - secure, networked and efficient!", and the key topics are as follows:

5 April 2011: Security
As safe as Fort Knox - IT security: identification and access systems
How, when, who and what? Secure proof & digital signature
KIS as a medical product - What lies in store?
Data protection - unobtained despite many attempts?

6 April 2011: Integration & Networking
Standards - why not take part?
Learning from our neighbours - IT in the healthcare system of the Netherlands
Electronic patient file, electronic doctor's letter, intersectoral communication: Where do we stand today?
Medical technology & IT - How can we reach a solution away from regulation?

7 April 2011: Quality & Efficiency
Action plan for safe drug treatment - Risks and side-effects, can IT help?
Telemedicine - How far have we progressed?
Strategic IT and risk management - Crucial aspects
Mobile IT - A reality or just a slogan?

Get in-depth knowledge - Academy / networking events
The interactive seminars at the conhIT Academy provide opportunities for users and suppliers to join with experts in developing actual solutions and innovative strategies for dealing with current healthcare issues. Preparations for the networking events at conhIT 2011 are well under way. Nowadays, maintaining individual networks is becoming increasingly important. By taking part in individual events such as discussion forums, roundtables, Xing meetings, workshops, the ever-popular conhIT party and exclusive conhIT gala, as well as visits to hospitals and themed tours, visitors will be able to expand their personal networks.

A new partner concept for participation in the overall event
In 2011, companies will be able to participate as partners for the first time. Participating as a conhIT Partner enables you to support the overall concept and to benefit from exclusive offers such as special advertising and the opportunity to apply for lectures or themed tours. Agfa, ID Berlin, MEIERHOFER, medatiXX, Siemens and Tieto are Gold Partners at conhIT 2011. "The limited number of Gold Partner packages in 2011 are already sold out. However one can still apply for a Silver or Bronze Partner package. Companies focusing on the Industrial Fair will still be able to exhibit there, and will also be able to make use of opportunities for advanced training and networking," said Ursula Baumann, Senior Project Manager of conhIT at Messe Berlin. Additional information on the partner concept is available at: http://www1.messe-berlin.de/vip8_1/website/Internet/Internet/www.conhit/englisch/Exhibitor-Service/Application/index.html

Make the best out of two trade fairs
Euro ID, the Trade Fair for Automatic Identification, will be making its debut and is taking place at the same time, directly next to conhIT. As the two fairs cover similar themes, the same ticket allows visitors to attend both events. For visitors who register online at www.conhit.com by 26 January 2011 admission to the conhIT Industrial Fair will be free of charge.

conhIT was conceived by the German Association of the Healthcare IT Industry (VHitG). It is organised by Messe Berlin GmbH.
