For many years the goal of networking the healthcare system, not least in conjunction with the eHealth law, has been a top priority of the Health IT industry. Many of the law's proposals will already come into force this year and the specific applications will accompany the relevant healthcare players over many years. That is reason enough to feature networked medicine as a key topic over the three days of the Industrial Fair and Congress at conhIT 2016, which will take place in Berlin.
Axel Wehmeier, the managing director of Telekom Healthcare Solutions (THS), a Gold Partner at conhIT, is among those who welcome the attention given to this topic: "Digitization within the healthcare system will gather pace rapidly this year. More and more hospitals and health insurances will be looking for a professional network, both for internal communication and with patients, that is supported by reliable and safe platforms."
Besides product presentations on the subject at the Industrial Fair, at conhIT there will be numerous events on networking-related themes, including the eHealth law, interoperability and telemedicine. In addition, a special event will take place at conhIT for hospital directors and senior executives that will debate on 'How to make the transition from a single system to a network. IT as part of the strategy'.
"Nowadays, providing healthcare would be unimaginable without the commitment and expertise of different professions in all kinds of institutions. Modern and complex medical assistance involves numerous highly specialised, interdisciplinary processes that are not always coordinated, which in some cases take place in different locations at different times. In this environment networking is key to success. Thus, an increasing number of university clinics, intensive care hospitals and other healthcare institutions are cooperating very successfully with each other. However, this cooperation rarely involves a jointly coordinated IT strategy, which is essential in order to organise work processes and facilitate highly efficient, quality teamwork. That is where the focus must be," says Prof. Dr. Otto Rienhoff, of the Department of Medical Informatics of the University Medical Centre Göttingen, explaining the approach of the special conhIT event for hospital heads.
The programme of the special conhIT event for hospital heads is as follows: a special session, a themed workshop and an evening dinner which will be held exclusively for directors and senior executives on the eve of the conhIT special event.
About conhIT - Connecting Healthcare IT
conhIT targets decision-makers in IT departments, management, in the medical profession, nursing, doctors, doctors' networks and medical care centres who need to find out about the latest developments in IT and healthcare, meet members of the industry and make use of opportunities for high-level advanced training. As an integrated event, over a period of three days conhIT combines an Industrial Fair, a Congress and Networking Events that are of particular interest to this sector. Launched in 2008 by the German Association of Healthcare IT Vendors (bvitg) as the meeting place for the healthcare IT industry and organised by Messe Berlin, this event recorded 388 exhibitors and around 7,500 visitors in 2015 and has now become Europe's leading event for the healthcare IT sector.
conhIT is organised in cooperation with the following industry associations: the German Association of Healthcare IT Vendors (bvitg), the German Association for Medical Informatics, Biometry and Epidemiology (GMDS), the German Association of Medical Computer Scientists (BVMI). The National Association of Hospital IT Managers (KH-IT) and the Chief Information Officers of University Hospitals (CIO-UK) have provided contributions to the subject matter.
