conhIT 2016 Ends with New Trade Visitor Record

conhIT 201619 - 21 April 2016, Berlin, Germany.
From 19 to 21 April around 9,000 trade visitors (2015: 7,500) from Germany and abroad came to conhIT 2016 to find out about IT solutions covering the entire spectrum of health care. Occupying a display area measuring 18,000 square metres (2015: 15,000), 451 exhibitors from 16 countries (2015: 388/14), illustrated how digitalization is managing to improve patient safety, health care and efficiency in the healthcare system. Thus, when the three-day trade fair on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds came to a close it reported record exhibitor and trade visitor attendance. With exhibitor growth at 16 per cent compared to last year and boasting numerous new features conhIT was able to underline its standing as Europe's leading event for health IT again.

Data security in healthcare has become an increasingly important topic, so that for the first time conhIT featured an IT Security Area. International trade visitors were able to make use of the International Networking Lounge hosted by German Trade and Invest and enjoyed a special supporting programme. Visitors to the mobile health ZONE obtained an overview of the ever-expanding range of mobile solutions for medical experts and users. The programme of the supporting congress with its slogan 'Focus on the Patient - Innovative Healthcare IT' was even more wide-ranging and addressed topical industry issues such as big data, mHealth, wearables, data warehouses, patient empowerment, the eHealth Law and the IT Security Law.

Matthias Meierhofer, CEO of the German Association of Health IT Vendors (bvitg): "Nothing can stand in the way of digitalization in health care. Every area of conhIT 2016 demonstrated this in an impressive manner. Hermann Gröhe, Federal Minister of Health, visited the event and declared that even more urgent efforts will be made. The Industrial Fair showed the extent of what can already be put into practice, and at the Congress visitors listened to corresponding accounts. The Academy events, the eHealth Slam and the mobile health ZONE showcased the industry's dynamic pace and innovativeness. conhIT shows that even without rules and legal requirements more and more mHealth applications are being implemented in health care. IT security was also a hotly debated topic. Events are picking up speed and as the fair's organisers the bvitg is looking forward to the twelve months ahead. Things are exciting, and will be in the future."

Dirk Hoffmann, COO Messe Berlin: "Since its launch in 2008 conhIT has continued to grow and this year it reported record figures again. A 20 per cent increase in trade visitors and a 16 per cent growth in exhibitors are proof of the successful concept of an event that comprises an Industrial Fair, a Congress and Networking Events. We look forward to receiving positive reactions throughout from exhibitors and trade visitors."

Prof. Dr. Paul Schmücker, president of the conhIT Congress: "The reward for the comprehensive nature and quality of the Congress, the wide-ranging Networking Events and the presence of many healthcare companies over recent years was a new attendance record. Over the course of conhIT it was clear to see the direction healthcare IT will be taking over the coming years. Mobility and usability mean that it will be focused increasingly on the patient and employees."

The next conhIT will take place from 25 to 27 April 2017 in Berlin.
