Focus on the Digital Transformation - A Wide Range of Topics at conhIT 2018

conhIT 201817 - 19 April 2018, Berlin, Germany.
How is the digitalisation of the healthcare system affecting the relationship between patients and doctors? What new innovations and solutions does the health IT industry have to offer? What new plans does the federal government have for eHealth? These are just some of the questions that conhIT - Connecting Healthcare IT will be asking in Berlin. Combining a Trade Fair, Congress, Academy and Networking Events, conhIT is recognised as Europe’s leading event for healthcare IT. It is held by the German Association of Healthcare IT Vendors (bvitg) and organised by Messe Berlin. Some 9,500 trade visitors from around the world are expected to attend.

Jens Spahn, the new federal minister of health, has announced his visit to conhIT 2018 directly on the first day of the fair. In his keenly awaited speech, due at the opening event, he will give an insight into future political projects. "Digitalisation will also improve our healthcare as well, of that I am convinced. For the patients' sake it would be irresponsible to pass up this opportunity or obstruct it for data privacy reasons. The things I want to accomplish as health minister I expressly want to see achieved through digitalisation. The slogan of this year's conhIT is ’Transforming Healthcare’. Together, we can do it."

The keynote speaker at the opening event of this year’s conhIT is Christoph Keese, CEO, Axel Springer hy GmbH. "Digital disruption concerns more and more industries and in contrast to incremental innovation turns decades-long, established wisdom on its head. How will internet companies change the world and what must European firms do in order to help shape the digital future?", said Christoph Keese in a comment that will whet appetites for the topic of his keynote speech. As one of Germany's leading experts on the digital transformation Keese has performed detailed analyses of numerous companies and accompanied their transition. Together with his employer he set up Axel Springer hy GmbH in 2017, and is currently a managing partner.

Under the heading of ‘Transforming Healthcare’, experts will also examine the main health IT topics at three parallel Congress sessions taking place daily. The lectures will be of high practical value, similar to the IT Workshop which is being held for the first time at conhIT. "The digitalisation of the healthcare system offers solutions for current and increasingly important societal challenges, be it by obtaining valuable medical knowledge through analysing large amounts of data or optimising processes in hospitals and doctors’ surgeries with integrated IT systems. With documentation now increasingly a legal necessity, without the many uses that IT can be put to, healthcare would be inconceivable today and certainly not affordable. That is why it is important to recognise the digital transformation as an ongoing and changing process that will offer many opportunities and also influence society and processes, and to debate it accordingly. At this year's conhIT the topics of the programme of events brilliantly reflect the many facets of the digital transformation," said Jens Naumann, CEO of the German Association of Health IT Vendors (bvitg), the organisation holding conhIT.

In addition to a wide-ranging programme of Congress events trade visitors can look forward to a large number of innovations on the subject of digitalisation in hospitals, doctors' surgeries and nursing homes. Exhibitors from around the world will be showcasing their products and services in four halls, ranging from health apps, hospital information systems to advice on IT security. Over the years, they have done so with great success, as Dr. Christian Göke, CEO of Messe Berlin, emphasises: "Over the past 11 years we have steadily increased the number of exhibitors and trade visitors. This year, 577 exhibitors will mark a new record, over 70 more than last year. The big market leaders will be there, as well as versatile and innovative startups. For the first time we are devoting a special area to new companies, the Startup Café. This is where they can present their portfolio to industry experts, investors and incubators and establish contact with potential business partners in an informal atmosphere."

conhIT 2018 offers a range of digital transformation topics to suit everyone interested in the healthcare system, ranging from presentations of innovative solutions and experts exchanging views, to insights into political decision-making.
