TeleMed & eHealth 2007 - Call for Workshop/Abstracts

Self-care is increasingly seen by patients, government, and healthcare providers as a way of helping to manage the rising tide of long-term chronic conditions, and is expected to improve both health outcomes and patient satisfaction. eHealth technologies have the potential to play a key role in self care, and TeleMed & eHealth 2007 will explore the opportunities and challenges surrounding their introduction. Key issues for the conference are expected to include:
  • The state of the evidence base on the potential effectiveness of these technologies,
  • Their ease of use
  • How they can be integrated into mainstream care services
  • The financial implications of their adoption.

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS (Deadline for submission - Friday 8 June 2007)

The organising committee invites abstracts on any of the main topics above. Abstracts should relate to original unpublished work. Successful authors will be offered either a Platform (oral) presentation or a Poster presentation. Two distinct types of abstracts can be submitted:
a) academic, research oriented abstracts that describe e-health trials or projects;
b) descriptions of active service applications or exciting innovations in eHealth.

A) Research Abstracts
These are welcome on aspects of meeting healthcare challenges. These should be approximately 500 words in length. The text should be submitted in the body of an email (i.e. not sent as an attachment) and should comply with the following format:

  • Introduction
  • Methodology
  • Results
  • Discussion
  • Conclusion

B) Abstracts describing service applications
These should be approximately 500 words in length. The text should be submitted in the body of an email (i.e. not sent as an attachment) and should clearly describe the service or innovation. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and should be clearly marked either 'TeleMed 2007 - Research Abstract' or 'TeleMed 2007 Service Application Abstract'. Please ensure that the author's postal address, telephone and fax numbers are included in this message as well as an email address for correspondence.

Acceptance Process
1. Abstracts should be submitted by Friday 8 June 2007, you will receive an acknowledgement which will include a reference number, which authors should use in any subsequent correspondence;
2. The Committee will review abstracts in May 2007;
3. Acceptances will be notified as soon as possible. Either platform (oral) or poster presentation will be offered;
4. Acceptance forms must be signed and returned;
5. A final version of papers accepted for oral or poster presentation must be submitted by 17 September 2007.

CALL FOR WORKSHOP SUBMISSIONS (Deadline for submission - Friday 8 June 2007)

Workshop ideas addressing issues as outlined in the conference themes are welcome. Workshops are intended to be interactive programmes (with audience participation) on one topic, usually with multiple presenters. Workshop submissions should aim to examine issues relating to the topic areas of the conference. Abstracts for workshop submissions should be approximately 500 words in length. The text should be submitted in the body of an email (i.e. not sent as an attachment) and should comply with the following format:

  • Introduction
  • Outline plans for organisation of workshop
  • Expected outcomes of workshop

Workshops would be expected to last for 90 mins. Only a very limited number of workshop ideas will be accepted. Conference Proceedings
Papers and poster abstracts will be available at the conference in a special delegates' edition of the Conference Proceedings.

As in previous years, the academic/research papers from the Proceedings will be eligible for publication subsequently as a special Supplement to the Journal of Telemedicine and Telecare (JTT).
