Improving patient safety and quality of care is of key importance for European citizens. The European "eHealth for Safety" study conducted by Veli Stroetmann and Jean-Pierre Thierry identified the potential benefits of complementing traditional healthcare practices with ICT solutions, and provided a fresh perspective for advanced research in this area. According to the study, successful implementation of ICT in healthcare can help revolutionise healthcare processes and bring about a safer healthcare environment.
