New Approaches to Digital Health: Apply Now for the DMEA Newcomer Award

DMEA - Connecting Digital Health25 - 27 April 2023, Berlin, Germany.
Clever minds, new ideas and visions are called for in order to make genuine progress with digitalising the healthcare sector. In 2023, with the Newcomer Award, DMEA - Connecting Digital Health is again providing a platform for these ideas and visions. DMEA is Europe's leading trade fair and congress on digital health, and next year will again be honouring the best Bachelor's and Master's degree papers on digitalisation in the healthcare sector with the DMEA Newcomer Award. Prizes will be awarded in three categories:
  • Bachelor's degree papers
  • Master's degree papers
  • Audience Award

Prize money of up to 2,000 euros will be conferred.

Who can apply?

Starting now, graduates can enter their final paper for the DMEA Newcomer Award. In order to be accepted, the paper must pertain to a digital health topic. Papers detailing a specific practical approach on how IT can help improve healthcare in the long term are especially encouraged. It is important that they describe specific health IT methods, tools and technology and how these are put to use. The deadline for submissions is 21 February 2023.

Subsequently, a panel of experts from business and industry will select the best papers. Entrants must present themselves and their paper in a short video. The three best entries in the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree category respectively will each receive a Newcomer Award at DMEA23. An Audience Award will also be presented for the paper most rated by the audience.

In the Master's degree paper category, this year's DMEA Newcomer Award went to Marius Oßwald, a graduate of Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. His final paper outlined a framework for the movements of hand muscles. In an interview with DMEA he talked about what has changed since winning the award and why he urgently advises every student to enter the DMEA Newcomer Award.
