The aim of "eHealth Europe 2007 - From Strategies to Applications" is to present the myriad telematics activities carried out by the Member States of the EU, with focus on the benefits to be gained by their application. The objective is to identify solutions for cross-border, interoperable processes and Europe-wide electronic services and to present and discuss the preparatory activities conducted by our European partners in this field.
The 2006 conference is about the imagination and exploration of probable, preferable and possible futures of society and the role of eHealth and telemedicine in particular. Participants at this conference are invited to present their research and are challenged to share their views on the future of health, society and technology.
eHealth refers to the use of digital information and communication technologies to meet the needs of citizens, patients, healthcare professionals, healthcare providers, and policy makers. Interactive health communication channels like the Internet have multiple potential benefits for the public, such as access to general and individualized health information on web sites. Support for health decision-making processes for prevention, diagnosis, and disease management is also possible. In addition, home care applications and mobile emergency call systems can be used by elderly or handicapped people at any time or place.
