HP Opens European Centre for Health Technology in Norway

HPNorway's role as world leader in new health technology, is the background for HP opening their European centre of health technology in Bryn, Oslo. The centre is equipped like a small hospital, complete with a patient room, watch room and an adjacent demonstration room.

"We are incredibly proud of this centre being opened in Norway, which is a clear result of Norway being world leaders in developing digital hospitals. This is now enabling us to display and export our knowledge to other European countries. Our goal is for the centre to be a window to the hospitals of the future", says Roger Moberg, Director of HP's HP's European Health Centre of Excellence.

The centre is the result of a strategic co-operation between HP, Telenor, Microsoft, Imatis and Cisco. The latest within health technology will be accessible from the centre, and can be presented to health institutions and interested parties all over Europe. The centre will also be used for research and development purposes, and will be important in testing and trying out new health technology. Thus, the centre may become a springboard for new Norwegian products and services toward the world market. "Norwegian companies with attractive solutions and high levels of competence, like Imatis, will get the opportunity to reach an international market. We will also be able to make sure that Norway, at all times, will choose the technological solutions that result in the best efficiency and most satisfied patients. It is historical for the biggest technological parties to meet to develop the best solutions", Morberg says.

Some of the solutions demonstrated at the centre, are already in use at the St. Olav hospital and New Ahus. New systems for medical filing, advanced electronic warning systems and separate patient terminals containing entertainment and communication, have drawn international attention, and contributed to making every day easier for both doctors and patients.
