Wanted: Europe's Next Generation Digital Health Companies

Growing digital health start-ups from across Europe are being offered the chance to be part of Johnson & Johnson Innovation's inaugural Digital Health Masterclass, which is now calling for applications. Offering a springboard for the digital health influencers of tomorrow, the Masterclass will draw on the company's long-standing expertise in innovation to help these businesses achieve their next level of growth. This is one of the many ways Johnson & Johnson Innovation is advancing healthcare across Europe - by adopting collaborative partnerships with innovators in science and technology.

With technology advancing at an ever-increasing pace and the growing role of Silicon Europe, digital health businesses are fast securing their position as key players in today's health eco-system. While digital health entrepreneurs have benefited from early-stage accelerator programmes over recent years, many would find further support invaluable in taking them to the next level in healthcare delivery and transformation.

Johnson & Johnson Innovation's Digital Health Masterclass has been developed with precisely this in mind. Led by experts from across the organisation, Janssen Healthcare Innovation is working in close collaboration with the London Innovation Centre, J&J Consumer UK and Lifescan on this initiative. The Masterclass will provide access to a panel of international influencers and investors who will lead educational workshops and offer targeted mentoring and advice.

In addition to dedicated networking sessions, the successful applicants will also be invited to take part in a Masterclass Challenge where they will pitch to a panel of experts and investors for the chance to share in a prize pool of €50,000.

According to Marco Mohwinckel, Head of JHI Europe, "Johnson & Johnson is committed to advancing healthcare, both through the science of medicine and breakthrough technologies, and we fully appreciate how important it is to collaborate with other companies in this pursuit. It's for this reason we are pooling our expertise in healthcare and innovation to launch our first Digital Health Masterclass in Europe and offer our support to rising stars who share our transformative aspirations".

The Masterclass is open to up to 20 European digital health businesses and will be delivered over three separate events in London, Barcelona and Berlin. The programme kicks-off with the first of the three-day workshops on Wednesday 18 September 2013 in Berlin and will culminate with the Masterclass Challenge, which will be held in association with Health 2.0 in London on 20 November 2013.
