Brainlab Observes World Cancer Day with Message of Education and Innovation

Brainlab AG Brainlab AG, a global leader in cancer-fighting medical technology, showed solidarity with the World Cancer Day campaign 'We Can. I Can.' by releasing a video in which employees share how they personally impact cancer. The three-year World Cancer Day campaign, outlines actions that people can take to prevent cancer, improve survival rates and reduce the impact cancer has on individuals, families and communities.

"Our research and development teams are constantly exploring ways to create less invasive cancer treatments, and making those treatments available to as many people as possible, even in the remote corners of the globe," said Stefan Vilsmeier, CEO and President of Brainlab. "Within our company, we are committed to disease prevention by providing a healthy work environment and educating and encouraging our employees to make healthy lifestyle choices both at work and home."

According to the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), the global cancer epidemic is significant and is set to rise. Currently, there are 8.2 million cancer deaths per year worldwide, almost half of which are patients aged 30 to 69. The global occurrence is expected to rise to 13.2 million per year by 2030 with global cost of care estimated at $458 billion.(1,2,3,)
