Introducing Mobile Documented Patient Consent

SOFTPROSOFTPRO and selected partners are introducing a new product for protecting doctors and hospitals from unnecessary costs while streamlining hospital operations: Electronic Patient Information Documentation using a tablet PC and secured with biometric handwritten signatures.

The new system named "PICS mobile" enables physicians to acquire legal consent from their patients to perform surgical procedures without ever having to use a physical piece of paper. PICS mobile provides stronger legal protection while simultaneously cutting hospital administration costs related to traditional paper-based systems. The electronic patient consent forms are provided by the Perimed Compliance Corporation, a leader in form compliance.

The application relies on the use of biometric handwritten signature technology provided by SOFTPRO, and captured on Motion Computing's Tablet PC hardware. The solution allows physicians to process patient consent forms in a secured electronic format without disrupting the usual and accepted operation that traditional paper-based forms provide.

Hospitals - such as the Klinikum Ingolstadt - in Germany have already deployed the new application resulting in significant time and cost savings. This particular hospital is also a pioneer in the usage of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) created on Tablet PCs and utilizing both ProCompliance and SOFTPRO technology.
