SUSTAINS Project: 25 Partners Meet in Treviso to Talk about Online Access of Patients to Their Personal Clinical Data

For one day, 16th September 2014, Treviso (Italy) is going to become the eHealth capital city in Europe as for online access of patients to their personal clinical data thanks to the project steering committee meeting of SUSTAINS. It is a European initiative that gathers 16 partners from 11 different countries (and 13 EU regions) that aims at studying and experimenting eHealth services that guarantee citizens/patients a direct online access to their personal clinical data. This target fulfils the requirements of the European Digital Agenda to promote the use of ICT technologies to support the economic growth in the EU countries and a sustainable digital future.

The meeting is promoted by the Azienda ULSS n.8 Asolo (Local Health Authority n. 8 of Asolo, near Venice in Italy) that represents the Veneto Region inside the international partnership and is technically supported by Arsenàl.IT, the Veneto's Research Centre for eHealth Innovation that offers its headquarters in Treviso, villa Lorenzon, as venue for the meeting.

During the technical committee partners are going to talk about each single action at regional and national level to define next steps. As for the Local Health Authority n. 8 Asolo, at the moment they are carrying out several assessment actions as for eHealth online services including the direct access of uses. They actions involve groups of patients, clinicians and healthcare professionals.

For the Veneto Region SUSTAINS represents a great chance to inform healthcare and eHealth professionals from different European countries about the characteristics and best practice developed at regional level as for digital health services, most of all those that include a direct online access of people to their clinical data by using technological means and tools.
