IMIA HIS Working Conference hosted by INA, Instituto Nacional de Administração in cooperation with IMIA WG Telematics in Healthcare

The Nursing and Midwifery Planning and Development Unit (NMPDU) – HSE West is hosting the above national conference in response to the on-going interest shown by nurses and midwives in Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) and how it will impact on future patient care, nurse education and planning for managers.

The European regions are facing similar social, political, and economic challenges today and in the future. The health care sectors in particular have to deal with the rising demand for services in addition to limited budgetary conditions. The regions are faced with the demographic changes and the challenge of ensuring that citizens in both urban centres and peripheral areas have the same access to health care services. Thus, access to high quality health care services for all citizens, regardless of where they live, is crucial for the attractiveness and competitiveness of European regions.

The event is held during the opening week of Finland’s EU Presidency in July 2006. The conference aims at bringing experts from the fields of technology, education and training, research, industry and governmental organisations together to discuss the European vision on the role of technology in promoting lifelong learning, innovation and desirable change.
