Agfa HealthCare Installs First DX-D 500 Digital X-ray Room in France

Agfa HealthCareAgfa HealthCare, a leading provider of diagnostic imaging and healthcare IT solutions, announces that the private Maine Image Santé group in Le Mans has completed the installation of the first integrated DX-D 500 digital X-ray room. An agreement for the second DX-D 500 has been signed with the SMC SCANPY group of Tarbes, with the installation taking place before the end of the year in its Ormeau clinic.

Uniting the digital technology of the DX-D 500 with MUSICA2 image processing optimized for DR, users of the solution can obtain immediate previews on the company's advanced NX acquisition workstation. The versatile DX-D 500 can handle a very comprehensive range of X-ray exams, from general radiography to emergencies and pediatrics. The system offers a variety of configurations for maximum efficiency and can be tailored with a two fixed detector radiographic table and wall stand or a fixed detector wall stand only.

The Maine Image Santé center of Le Mans, which brings together 23 radiologists in the 450-bed facility, is proud to be the first reference site for the DX-D 500 solution. "Agfa HealthCare has been our technology partner for a long time, and we are very confident about working with them. The DX-D 500 offers us excellent image quality and allows us to quickly deliver diagnoses with less radiation, for better patient care," explains Dr. Olivier Allain. After only one week of usage, with 380 exams already achieved, the doctors and technologists are delighted with the arrival of this new room. The radiographers appreciate the ease of use of the room and the NX workstation. They have noticed a superior image quality compared to some of the other rooms, which in particular, allows a reduction of patient dose.

The SCANPY group has also recently chosen to install the company's leading DX-D solution at the Ormeau surgical center of Tarbes. Following a site visit and the viewing of images made using the DX-D 500, Dr. Bonnet explained that "we were convinced by the exceptional image quality and by the use of a state-of-the-art DR system."

"When we presented this solution at the ECR in Vienna for the first time, we were confident that the DX-D 500 would attract a lot of attention," declares Dirk Debusscher, Vice President Imaging of Agfa HealthCare. "Today, the installations at Maine Image Santé in Le Mans and the Ormeau clinic in Tarbes confirm this interest and reinforce the fact that our solution meets their modality needs. We are eager to see the success of these co-operations."

The DX-D family range will next be presented during the "Journées Françaises de Radiologie" (JFR) trade show from October 16 - 20, 2009, to an audience of radiology professionals.
