Agfa HealthCareAgfa HealthCare announces that at ECR 2011 it will demonstrate how its products and portfolios create complete and integrated solutions to meet the specific needs of healthcare facilities at the departmental, hospital and regional levels.

In the IT domain, Agfa HealthCare will demonstrate its new Integrated Regional Imaging Program - market-proven image and information management systems integrated across multiple healthcare sites up to the regional level. In Imaging, the company will highlight how its extensive range of computed radiography (CR) and direct radiography (DR) solutions co-exist within Agfa HealthCare's portfolio, offering a flexible growth path for any healthcare facility - regardless of size, workflow design or budgetary considerations.

Agfa HealthCare Imaging Informatics Building a regional care model for Europe
Over the past years, care facilities across the world have begun joining forces through regional cooperation to deliver accessible, high-quality, efficient and safe care in a financially-sound way. At ECR 2011, visitors will have the first opportunity to experience Agfa HealthCare's Integrated Regional Imaging Program in a 'real-life' regional healthcare setting demo. This customizable program brings to the regional care model a full suite of image and data solutions ranging from DR and CR systems, to picture archiving and communication systems (PACS) and related applications, to Data Centers. The result is a complete, configurable, single-source solution that helps standardize IT infrastructures and consolidate patient records, while staying ahead of hospital and governmental requirements for sharing data and infrastructure.

At ECR 2011, next to the Integrated Regional Imaging Program, Agfa HealthCare will highlight new additions and updates to its broad Imaging Informatics range, including the following products and solutions:

Enterprise Medical Imaging and eHealth: IMPAX Data Center and Viewer
IMPAX Data Center is Agfa HealthCare's leading enterprise medical imaging repository. By consolidating imaging data from different systems into a single point of storage and distribution, it plays a key role in creating a longitudinal image-enabled electronic medical record (EMR) or regional electronic health record (EHR). It will be shown with the browser-based IMPAX Data Center Viewer. This XERO-powered viewer offers uniform access regardless of location, delivering images and information to care givers across a wide range of technical and physical barriers.

IMPAX PACS advanced applications: IMPAX 6.5 RIS/PACS/Reporting
IMPAX 6.5 is the latest version of Agfa HealthCare's advanced IMPAX 6 integrated RIS/PACS workflow solution for data management and reporting. It includes new features, which focus on usability, workflow, productivity and business intelligence. A few highlights include guided workflows that unite information, applications and image processing within one cohesive image management application; improved personalized usability; and fast remote reading. The newest-generation radiology information system (RIS) offers customizable toolbars, display of relevant data and action buttons, so it can be tailored to specific needs and preferences. The updated IMPAX Reporting solution includes Extended Addendum workflows and customizable templates, together with on-the-fly personalization of standard texts. The latest wireless speech microphones drive Agfa HealthCare's sophisticated speech recognition solution.

Simplified browser-based results viewing: IMPAX Results Viewer 2.0 (Work In Progress)
IMPAX Results Viewer 2.0 is the latest results viewer for IMPAX, and is being shown as a Work-in-Progress at ECR 2011. This lightweight image and report viewer offers fully embedded browser-based results viewing as well as simplified features for referring physicians. The 2.0 version includes expanded browser and operating system client support and new functionalities for measurements, study comparisons and comments, single-sign on (SSO) for reports, and more.

Secure and reliable transfer of information: IMPAX Exchange (Work In Progress)
IMPAX Exchange, being shown at ECR 2011 as a Work-in-Progress, offers a secure and reliable way to transfer critical medical information from one hospital to another, replacing fragile and easily-misplaced CDs. Images being transferred are traceable and are automatically linked to existing patient information and studies in the PACS system.

Self-service hospital check-in: IMPAX Kiosk for Europe (Work In Progress)
The Work-in-Progress Kiosk for Europe is being introduced at this year's ECR. The self-service check-in kiosk is designed to improve the patient experience and reduce the waiting time at registration. It also decreases administrative costs and risk of error caused by a third party entering check-in information, as patients identify themselves, check in and sign documents electronically.

Better tools for decision-making: IMPAX for Business Intelligence (Work In Progress)
Supporting the demand for better decision-making support tools in radiology, Agfa HealthCare is introducing its new IMPAX solution for Business Intelligence, as a Work-in-Progress. Using the IMPAX for Business Intelligence Data Warehouse, the system provides historical, current and predictive views of operations. Real-time dashboards, management reports and ad-hoc queries are all available in a single web browser, enabling physicians and hospital management to monitor, measure and streamline radiology operations.

Extending Agfa HealthCare's PACS into mammography: IMPAX for Breast Imaging
By implementing the IHE Mammography Image profile, IMPAX for Breast Imaging avoids the typical image display problems of mixed-vendor environments. It can be configured for screening or diagnostic workflows, and supports Agfa HealthCare's MUSICA MCE (Micro Calcification Enhancement) technology.

Automated workflow and specialized features: IMPAX for Nuclear Medicine
With IMPAX for Nuclear Medicine, the entire workflow of the nuclear medicine department can be automated, and communications with other departments optimized. Users can schedule the patient's entire exam flow, from arrival at the hospital, to the final distribution of nuclear medicine reports. OASIS for IMPAX adds a fully featured nuclear medicine viewing and processing package, allowing the user to access advanced features for viewing and processing of NM, SPECT, and PET images, at the click of a button.

Enhanced cardiovascular imaging and reporting: IMPAX CardioVascular
IMPAX CardioVascular also fully automates the departmental workflow and optimizes communication with the rest of the enterprise - this time for cardiology.

Agfa HealthCare Imaging Scalable CR and DR portfolio
Agfa HealthCare remains committed to offering a complete solutions portfolio for both CR and DR that do not compromises on image quality. At ECR 2011, Agfa HealthCare will demonstrate how the two technologies co-exist in a scalable growth path for digital imaging. Digital X-ray room combining fluoroscopy and radiography exposures: DX-D 800 (Work In Progress)
The DX-D 800 is a digital X-ray room fitted with a dynamic, portable and removable flat-panel detector. It is a multi-purpose system that allows both fluoroscopy and the broadest range of radiology exams, including full leg/full spine with automatic image stitching. A remote controlled table positioning is programmed in each anatomic protocol offering a excellent ergonomy.

Most productive direct digital X-ray room: DX-D 600
The ceiling-mounted DX-D 600 is Agfa HealthCare's top-of-the-line direct digital X-ray room. This is the most productive and efficient room offers a full portfolio of automatic, semi-automatic and manual configurations. The versatile ceiling-mounted system is equipped with dual Cesium Iodide DR detectors in the wall stand and table, with optional integrated CR as well.

Scalable growth path from analog to digital: DX-D 400
The floor-mounted DX-D 400 offers a smooth upgrade path to digital and can be used with film, CR and DR. Scalable configurations are possible, from an analog manual system, to a digital manual system, and up to a digital automatic system with auto-positioning, auto-tracking and a tubehead touch screen.

Portable wireless detector: DX-D 30
The DX-D 30 with its wireless technology is convenient to use in challenging imaging situations such as the ICU or operating room, as the cord doesn't interfere with patient positioning. It also offers greater hygiene, since there is no trailing cable to pick up dirt and germs from the floor.

New family of basic CR solutions: CR 30-X, CR 30-x and CR 30-Xm ( Work In Progress)
Agfa HealthCare's new family of basic CR solutions offers improved robustness and serviceability, at a price point lowering further the barriers to digital X-ray, but not compromising on image quality.

The CR 30-X is a high-volume desktop digitizer, supporting a broad range of genrad applications including full leg/full spine; the CR 30-x is a low-volume desktop digitizer supporting the same broad range of radiology exams and the CR 30-Xm is a high-volume desktop digitizer that can be used for both mammography and general radiology. Each of these CR systems offer the same image quality as Agfa HealthCare's most advanced CR systems.

Dose reduction potential: Agfa HealthCare advances in CR needle detector technology
Agfa HealthCare's new crystalline needle-based detector makes more efficient use of radiation exposure, while new image processing software allows further potential for reductions in dose. Using the needle-based detector, the amount of radiation is continuously monitored with an exposure index for every X-ray exam performed. Clinical studies have shown a potential for dose reduction of between 30 and 50 percent compared with standard systems. This means that CR examinations can be performed using a dose that almost matches the DR dose.

Also on display will be the established members of the DR and CR family:

  • the two-detector, high-productivity DR system, DX-D 500;
  • the fully motorized U-arm DX-D 300;
  • the mobile DX-D 100;
  • the DX-D 10 and DX-D 20 portable detectors;
  • the previously launched DX-G and DX-M, which support both standard phosphor plates and needle-based detectors.
