EMIS Plans to Share Data with TPP Across CCG Clusters

EMISEMIS - the UK's leading supplier of GP clinical systems - has announced discussions on a landmark record-sharing agreement with another supplier in a further move to make the vision of 'joined up' NHS care a reality. The company is planning to join forces with TPP to deliver one-to-one local health community data-sharing for clinical commissioning group (CCG) areas using both EMIS and TPP systems. It will mean that clinicians using one system can view patient records from the other system, subject to sharing agreements and patient consent at the point of care.

For example, district nurses using EMIS Web Community will be able to view their patients’ GP records stored in TPP's SystmOne - and vice versa - giving both clinicians vital information at their fingertips to improve efficiency and drive up standards of care. The project is intended to be piloted in the next few months before being rolled out across England.

EMIS managing director Neil Laycock said "This is an important initiative that will help community clinicians to offer the best, most informed care to their patients. It is a further step in our company's strategy to help enable the government's vision of seamless care across the NHS through joined-up technology."

The news follows an announcement in January that Healthcare Gateway Ltd (HGL) - a 50:50 joint venture company formed by EMIS and INPS - is also looking to work with TPP and others to enable GPs using four different systems across the UK to securely share data with any other healthcare IT organisation, including secondary care providers. Clinicians at five acute NHS trusts in North Mersey and Cumbria using a number of different IT systems are already using HGL's Medical Interoperability Gateway (MIG) to send electronic discharge information to GPs within 24 hours.
