Carefx and Cerner Bring Experience Around Building Integrated Clinical Information Solutions to the UK

Carefx Corp.Carefx Corp., a leading provider of interoperable workflow solutions, announced it is extending its work with Cerner Corporation (Nasdaq: CERN) to provide clinical organisations with integrated solutions for delivering patient data to clinical staff. Cerner's Clinical Exchange PlatformSM (CEP) a secure, standards based Health Information Exchange (HIE), can operate in conjunction with Carefx Fusionfx to electronically bring together data from disparate systems into a single, real time view of patient data.

The solution uses open components and data standards to connect rather than replace existing IT systems within hospitals. This approach will result in:

  • Better care coordination and communication to improve clinical outcomes, reduce duplication and waste;
  • Improvement in quality and productivity for clinical staff; and
  • Efficiency savings and quality improvements.

The CEP is used to access patient data across disparate systems and organisations to create an aggregated, longitudinal view of a patient record, capable of managing a wide variety of clinical records and document types. This composite view of the patient record can be achieved without staff having to navigate the login, patient context, and arrangement of screens within multiple systems. Carefx and Cerner have already been collaborating for more than five years in the U.S., and this joint work has resulted in streamlined access to clinical data that is generally distributed across multiple systems.
