Aberdeen Walk-in Clinic Launches with Technology Support from Clinical Solutions

Clinical SolutionsClinical Solutions has announced the implementation of its decision support technology, to support a simple and safe patient assessment process, at Aberdeen’s first pharmacy based minor injury walk in clinic.

The clinic, in the Bon Accord Centre in Boots, will be a nurse–led weekend walk-in service. It will operate as part of a Scottish Government-funded pilot involving pharmacies in Aberdeen, Glasgow, Dundee, Edinburgh and Airdrie offering a range of extra services and extended hours with the aim to increase patient access and reduce waiting times.

Jean Challiner, Chief Medical Officer at Clinical Solutions, says, "The IntefleCS technology will support the clinical assessment and treatment process and at the same time create an auditable detailed electronic clinical record. Patient safety is paramount in any service and our technology supports high quality evidence based care customised to this healthcare setting to optimise the patient care pathway."

Dr Roelf Dijkhuizen, Medical Director for NHS Grampian, adds, "NHS Grampian and community pharmacies have been working together to look at new ways to provide the public with more accessible advice and treatment for some of the most common ailments and complaints."

"The NHSG Minor Injury Nurse staffing this service aims to compliment the minor ailments service which is already provided by the pharmacist. The types of injuries which may be treated at the Walk-in Clinic include injuries which are sustained as a result of slips, trips or falls such as soft tissue injuries to limbs and head injuries with no loss of consciousness.
