Carefx and IBM to Provide Hospitals Across Denmark with Real-Time Clinical Portals

CarefxCarefx announced that together with IBM they will enable hospitals across Denmark to provide clinicians with real-time access to the very latest clinical patient information, allowing them to obtain immediate insight and to make faster decisions regarding patient care.

As a result of the collaboration between Carefx and IBM, all hospitals throughout the five healthcare regions in Denmark will be able to deploy a portal solution based on a combination of Carefx's Fusionfx platform and IBM's WebSphere® technologies.

The portal solution will enable clinicians to securely access streamlined patient data, which is delivered from individual applications. Bringing this information together in real-time will reduce the time spent navigating between different clinical systems, giving healthcare staff the fullest possible picture. This will improve continuity of care, patient safety and clinical productivity while reducing fragmentation in order to enhance the patient experience.

Wayne Parslow, executive vice president and general manager EMEA for Carefx said: "For many years, we have successfully provided clinical solutions that rely upon the strength of IBM middleware. By working collaboratively we can now deliver this robust, proven solution across Denmark to improve patient care and safety by allowing clinicians to access vital patient information at the precise point in the care pathway."

"Many healthcare regions across Europe, including the Danish regions are looking for proven ways to bring patient information together in cost effective solutions to increase productivity and patient safety" added Peter Lange, executive IT-architect IBM Healthcare Sector. "IBM and Carefx have already delivered this solution successfully in the UK, where NHS hospitals have implemented portals based on our software technology."

The IBM and Carefx portal solution is built on the IBM Health Integration Framework, an integrated platform for healthcare operations built on industry standards. This framework uses elements of IBM's entire software portfolio including WebSphere®, Rational®, Tivoli®, Lotus® and Information Management products while using the full range of IBM Systems and Storage technologies and the industry-specific offerings and consulting expertise of IBM Global Business Services.

"The portal will enable our clients to have 'best-of-breed' systems in all areas and at the same time close the information gap between the range of clinical systems creating an efficient solution with focus a on patient and context," added Henrik Wieland, IBM Healthcare industry leader in Denmark.

IBM and Carefx will work closely with healthcare application providers to deliver the clinical portal and to tailor it to regional needs. The teaming is part of IBM's PartnerWorld programme, an enablement program designed to create market opportunities for IBM Business Partners. The companies' collaboration in Denmark will provide them with a strategic platform for future collaboration in other Nordic countries.
