HIMSS Europe Governing Council Appoints Three New Board Members

HIMSS EuropeHIMSS Europe has appointed three new board members to the HIMSS Europe Governing Council who will help to steer the strategic direction of HIMSS Europe, provide content expertise and maintain program oversight of the organisation's activities.

Prof. Dr. Arno Elmer, Scientific Director of the Research Group eHealth at FOM Hochschule - University of Applied Sciences for Economics and Management Germany, Mike Fuller, Director Marketing, InterSystems UK and Line Linstad, Department Head, Norwegian Centre for Integrated Care and Telemedicine Norway, will serve a three-year term until 30 June 2018.

Stephen Bryant, Managing Director, HIMSS Europe said: "The Governing Council is integral to providing strategic advice and guidance to the Society. Appointing influential and experienced health IT professionals from not only three different geographic regions but also from across industry and policy will ensure new ideas are brought to the table that support HIMSS in its mission to engage its stakeholders and transform healthcare using IT."

Prof. Dr. Arno Elmer was appointed to the Council following his significant contribution to the optimisation of eHealth within Germany, where he was mostly responsible for the implementation of the electronic health card as well the establishing of the telematics infrastructure. In addition, he has extensive experience at a European level in developing policy, awareness, establishing transparency, support and development of telemedicine as an executive board member of EHTEL - European Health Telematics Association.

Mike Fuller was appointed after he demonstrated delivery of eHealth systems for primary, acute, and community health services in in technical, sales, and marketing roles for the past 33 years as well as an unrivalled passion about the value that technology can bring to improve patient safety, quality of outcomes, manage resources efficiently, as well as motivate and support care professionals and managers.

The Council selected Line Linstad for her work in the field of eHealth since 2002 in at the Norwegian Center for Integrated Care and Telemedicine (NST). She has a longstanding experience within telemedicine, mobile health and eHealth. Facilitating processes for financing, accomplishing and managing several research and development projects on national and international level has been her main responsibilities. Finding innovative approaches to healthcare provision by the use of ICT and implementing these.

Furthermore, the HIMSS Europe Governing Council appoints member-based work groups that have delegated responsibility to assist management in the execution of operational strategies (e.g., WoHIT, HIMSS CIO Summit, membership, educational programs, etc.), support the development and promotion of other HIMSS Europe products and services; develop governance roles, procedures and practices to ensure an effective governance and oversight body.
