Sybermedica and CypherIT Launch Automated DICOM Mail Service

Sybermedica and Cypher IT have announced an agreement to link their PACSMail and bbRad image and report sharing technologies to provide a secure, flexible, automated data sharing service for clinical networks. The link allows users of Cypher IT's bbRad teleradiology server to share DICOM studies with users of the Sybermedica PACSMail network. The joint solution combines PACSMail's DICOM messaging and viewing functions with bbRad's workflow solution to control the automated entry of images and reports directly into PACS/RIS. Studies can also be cc'd via PACSMail to other users within the hospital or to the wider healthcare community.

Marco Crispini, Cypher IT's Managing Director, said "this is a significant development. It truly enables the 'any image, anywhere' vision. Trusts will now be able to link not just to their regular, high-volume NHS and private sector neighbours, but also receive imaging from ad-hoc senders anywhere in the UK or world-wide with minimal fuss and virtually nil setup required. It enables smaller and mid-sized sites, whether NHS or not, to both refer patients to and seek advice from specialist centres of their choice."

Sybermedica's CEO Steve Gatley said "we are delighted with this new development which effectively creates a national mail service for DICOM study transmission. PACSMail allows users to post images via the network; bbRad then acts as the sorting office, automatically forwarding the images into the appropriate PACS/RIS workflow. Setting up a PACSMail account takes just a few minutes and the pay-per-use option allows sites to become users with no capital outlay."
