The Trust chose TrakCare because of its unified design and rich functionality, which will support its vision of having the best hospitals and healthcare provision in the region. Since its selection as preferred bidder, InterSystems has worked closely with the Trust and its contracting partner, Insight, to design a contract that fully reflects the Trust's needs.
Lynne Hodgson, director of finance, information and ICT at North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust, said, "By unifying the PAS with the clinical system, TrakCare will provide consolidated patient information that will help us streamline patient services and enhance patient safety. We believe that working with InterSystems in a long-term partnership will assist us in delivering the Department of Health's directive for NHS trusts to be working paper-free by 2018."
Phase one introduces the TrakCare solution for PAS and EPR as well as maternity, emergency department, and theatre management. Phase two will build on this foundation to add advanced clinical functionality including electronic prescribing, medicine administration, and clinical decision support. TrakCare will replace an existing PAS, using server and storage infrastructure from Cisco and EMC.
"We are delighted to have North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust as our newest customer in the UK. TrakCare is a great fit for a large and growing Trust that has a clear vision for providing the enabling technology that will support delivery of the best care for its patients," said Steve Garrington, Vice President, International, InterSystems.
