This latest contract, worth £6 million (A$9.8 million), extends the original A$47.8 million agreement, signed in March 2008, to 2016. It expands the services offered and includes new HP hardware and infrastructure and a move to Oracle Release 12. The contract is for services only and excludes licenses.
NHS SBS provides services such as accounts payable, debt collection, bank account reconciliation, and account reporting for 30% of all NHS organisations. iSOFT has provided NHS SBS with a fully hosted managed service since 2002.
"The extension clearly indicates the strength of our relationship and is great news for both organisations as it gives us the foundation to move forward and ensure we continue to support NHS SBS' business objectives," said Eamonn Morris, Managing Director of iSOFT Business Solutions. "Healthcare organisations are coming under increasing pressure to streamline back office processes and reduce spending, while also maintaining high-quality operations. Our joint expertise in delivering services to NHS trusts will allow those using the system to gain excellent value and make significant savings."
"Extending our partnership with iSOFT Business Solutions allows us to continue to deliver a high-quality, best value solution to all our NHS clients," said John Neilson, Managing Director at NHS SBS. "As we currently support around 30% of NHS trusts, this fits with our strategy to ensure consistently high service quality and performance. iSOFT Business Solutions has a proven track record of cost effective and reliable services to NHS SBS that helps us to deliver added value to all of our NHS clients."

About NHS Shared Business Services
NHS Shared Business Services (NHS SBS) is a unique joint venture between the Department of Health and Steria, and leads the way in developing and providing Finance & Accounting, Payroll, e-Procurement and Family Health Services to all types of NHS organisations.
More than 21 million people in the UK have NHS healthcare delivered by NHS SBS clients.
NHS SBS was cited in HM Treasury Budget Report earlier this year "improving efficiency in back office functions by building on the success of NHS Shared Business Services" and also featured in the Operational Efficiency Programme (OEP) final report on efficiency savings.
With over 1000 people employed and in excess of 4 million transactions processed per annum, NHS SBS works with around 30% of NHS organisations to deliver operational efficiencies, and is on target to save around £250m over 10 years – which could pay for more than 12,000 extra nurses.
