iSOFT's Response to UK Government's Health White Paper

iSOFTiSOFT, one of the world's leading health information technology companies, welcomes the measures outlined in the UK government's white paper, 'Equity and Excellence: Liberating the NHS'.

iSOFT strongly agrees with the government's vision to give the patient greater choice and control over their healthcare. In particular, iSOFT supports plans to give the patient access to the information needed to make informed decisions about their care. iSOFT also has the goal of placing the patient at the heart of their healthcare journey and believes that good quality patient data is key to improving healthcare outcomes.

We also applaud the government's vision to join up local NHS services, social care and health improvements. iSOFT believes that Integrated Care Organisations are a channel to enhancing patient satisfaction and achieving the efficiency savings, which the government plans to achieve by 2014.

Adrian Stevens, Managing Director of iSOFT's UK and Ireland business, said: "iSOFT is pleased to see concrete measures which firmly put the patient's needs at the heart of the NHS and believes this white paper shows true commitment to patient care.

"Joined-up care and the integration of services is the way forward for the NHS. We believe that this new policy is an opportunity for iSOFT to build on our current work with GPs and the NHS to help facilitate a personalised and seamless patient journey.

"iSOFT is uniquely well positioned to help deliver against this new agenda with its portfolio of products and services that provide an enabling infrastructure for connecting care communities while also helping to improve efficiency for healthcare providers."
