We are looking for a candidate with international teaching and research experience in the field of data science with a special focus on life and health sciences.
The candidate's research will concentrate on data generation, processing, management, and the use of complex data sets in the life sciences with a special focus on human health, e.g. disease development, disease prevention, or health promotion. Furthermore, a research interest should lie in interdisciplinary cooperation with life and health sciences.
The aim is to recruit a researcher who can contribute to connecting the individual disciplines of the faculty on the basis of his or her qualifications and research orientation, and who participates in joint research projects. It will also be possible to link to other departments at the University of Bayreuth, e.g. Health Care Management or Applied Computer Science. We are seeking a person with a high level of networking ability and communication skills. An affinity for biosciences, and health and sports sciences would be an asset, as would cooperation with the university’s relevant focus areas. Active participation in the development of the new Faculty of Life Sciences: Food, Nutrition & Health is expected. This also includes the conception and establishment of new scientific and interdisciplinary B.Sc. / M.Sc. programmes. Teaching experience in the fields of biostatistics and/or databases would be an asset.
The ability to teach in English is required as a large number of the faculty’s courses will be offered in English. International applicants must be ready and willing to teach in German within three years.
