Open Call SC1-BHC-20A-2020: Pre-Commercial Procurement (PCP) for Integrated Care Solutions

The challenge is to enable public procurers to collectively implement PCPs in order to close the gap between supply and demand for innovative integrated care solutions. The objective is to bring radical improvements to the quality and efficiency of public services and service delivery by encouraging the development and validation of breakthrough solutions through Pre-Commercial Procurement.

The Human Brain Project Calls for Projects to Contribute to its Research Infrastructure

The Human Brain Project (HBP) has launched four calls for expression of interest for projects that wish to participate in the development of its research infrastructure. Proposals can be submitted until 2 December. The selected projects will contribute to the development of the EBRAINS research infrastructure and increase the scope of its application in terms of innovation, neuroscience and clinical research.

Advanced Therapies Feature in New IMI Call for Proposals

Innovative Medicines Initiative

Advanced therapies are a major part of new Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) Calls for proposals. The two advanced therapies topics aim to accelerate research into advanced therapies for rare diseases, and support the development of engineered T cells to fight cancer. Other topics in the Calls address artificial intelligence; the need for reliable, relevant health information; and ways of incorporating patients' views and experiences into healthcare and cancer clinical trials.

X-rays of arms and legs are among the most frequent diagnosis processes used by NHS Scotland, with around 5,000 procedures annually. Although injuries in these areas are often categorised as minor, misdiagnosis and mismanagement can hamper recovery and lead to financial cost. However, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning could help create systems that prevent misdiagnosis.

Open Call SC1-BHC-13-2019: Mining Big Data for Early Detection of Infectious Disease Threats Driven by Climate Change and other Factors

A range of factors is responsible for the (re-)emergence of infectious disease threats, including antimicrobial resistance, altering the epidemiology and spread of disease in a changing global environment. These include drivers such as climate change and associated environmental impacts, population growth, unplanned urbanisation and high mobility, as well as animal husbandry or intensive farming practices.
