Orion Health Announces Enhanced Electronic Health Record Solution

Orion HealthOrion Health announced the enhanced release of Orion Health™ Electronic Health Record (Orion Health EHR), offering advanced flexibility and new options for healthcare organisations. The solution enables a connected system of health to achieve smarter patient outcomes across providers and regions.

Orion Health EHR offers secure, interoperable, standards compliant data integration between existing hospital IT systems, to create a unified view of patient information that can be shared among providers within and across a healthcare system - regardless of where the care was provided.

CEO, and company founder, Ian McCrae said: "Electronic Health Records are recognised as one of the key IT projects for improving patient care and reducing cost. Our exposure to subtle differences in EHR projects around the world has enabled us to put together a unique set of options to suit the needs of any regional healthcare solution."

Orion Health EHR provides:

  • A web based Clinical Portal with advanced integration capabilities that go beyond single-sign-on
  • A complete patient view that improves patient safety, increases clinician productivity and reduces duplicate tests and other orders.
  • User subscribed notifications that allow clinicians to define what information and alerts they receive, and when and how they receive them
  • Patient involvement via the new Patient Portal
  • Advanced integration options without the need to rip and replace existing systems
  • Flexible deployment options, including access from wireless devices such as the iPad
  • Flexible, rule based consent and privacy model ensuring privacy policies can be met in any jurisdiction.

With Orion Health EHR, customers can add additional clinical and patient-centered functions to assist in delivering care across traditional care boundaries and scale EHR projects over time. Additional options that can be added to Orion Health EHR include:

  • Case Management - for caring for patients with long-term conditions, reducing or preventing complications and integrating with remote monitoring where appropriate
  • Patient Portal - allows a patient to access their medical record, request appointments, view educational materials and communicate with their care team
  • Orders - for electronic ordering of Diagnostic services, (laboratory and radiology as well as allied health services such as physiotherapy)
  • Problem List - a centralized patient Problem List designed to give clinicians a comprehensive understanding of a patient’s health status by capturing information from multiple sources

Developed from the international experience across 22 regional projects in 8 countries - Orion Health EHR offers a secure, effective, sustainable, electronic exchange of patient data across traditional health care boundaries.

Orion Health EHR is a flexible solution that can meet the needs of a wide variety of shared health record scenarios. Compliant with IHE and HL7 standards based information exchange, Orion Health EHR enables seamless integration with virtually any system, while semantic mapping of clinical content simplifies information viewing.

President of International for Orion Health, Mr. Charles Scatchard points to differences in privacy and consent policies as an example of the need for flexibility in EHR solutions. "Orion Health has implemented EHRs of all sizes including some of the largest and smallest, in countries with widely varying politics, policies and requirements for privacy. Because our EHR solution is rules-based, designed specifically for healthcare markets and built with flexibility in mind, our customers can define the privacy rules that correspond best to their needs."
