The latter is a 75 acre estate on Hatters Lane offering energy efficient office space whilst greening the estate and its buildings. Executive chairman Jeremy Cummin, who is about to embark on his third global business trip in six months, said: "Our decision to move to Croxley Green was, in many ways, down to the fact the estate is very modern and the focus is very much on its green credentials. As a firm that is expanding very quickly we wanted a suitable, permanent base from which to grow both at home in the UK and internationally."
Telehealth Solutions was established in 2006 and has since become a leader in the field of telehealth in the UK and abroad. In November 2009, the firm won a national innovation award for its groundbreaking telehealth project on the Isle of Bute, off Scotland's west coast.
A total of 15 patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) were given the firm's HomePod to use for a year. During that time they used the HomePod to monitor their health at home and send daily updates via wireless internet to the main GP surgery in the island's main town, Rothesay.
A full evaluation of the Bute report is expected at the end of this month but initial feedback from both patients and health professionals is very encouraging. The number of hospital admissions was also substantially reduced, saving not only stress and upheaval for patients but valuable resources for the NHS.
The HomePod is just one of several cutting edge systems from Telehealth Solutions, which allow patients to take unprecedented control of their own health. These systems - including the CarePod, CardioPod, PharmacyPod and SurgeryPod – can be easily installed in homes, GP surgeries, pharmacies, schools and other locations as appropriate.
The idea is to streamline primary healthcare and free up medical professionals to concentrate on improving patient care. And every machine installed is making its mark by effecting valuable savings in time and money for the hard-pushed NHS across the UK. Areas that have already had Telehealth Solutions systems installed include Kensington & Chelsea, Camden, Norfolk, Fife and Renfrewshire.
Already renowned in the UK and Europe for its innovative thinking, the firm is now breaking new ground in Asia Pacific, North America, Australia and Canada.

The Department of Health describes telehealth as the ‘remote delivery of healthcare using electronic means of communication, usually from patient to clinician’. It means patients can measure their vital signs at home and the information gathered is then transmitted via a telehealth monitor to a clinician. Benefits include increased professional focus on patients, anxiety reduction, anticipation and avoidance of crisis admissions to hospital and enhanced medication compliance. The patient also becomes more informed about their daily health and becomes an active partner in their healthcare.
