At the exhibition Tunstall will demonstrate how telehealth and telecare technology can enhance quality of life for those with long-term needs, whilst offering health and social care services a cost-effective model of care.
Tunstall will be demonstrating its telehealth solution icp integrated care platform. By remotely monitoring patients' vital signs on a daily basis, telehealth can help to reduce the number of unplanned emergency hospital admissions, the number of visits patients need to make to GP surgeries and the number of home visits made by clinicians; improving the quality of life for the patient and their family and relieving pressure on NHS resources.
Telehealth in Practice Fringe Event
Tunstall and Ernst & Young will also be hosting a fringe event at the conference which will allow delegates to learn more about the benefits and results of telehealth in practice. The event, which takes place in the Tregonwell Seminar 2 room at 1.20pm on 19th November, will demonstrate how telehealthcare can contribute to achieving QIPP, save money and transform community care. The session will also showcase a new DVD created in conjunction with NHS North Yorkshire and York which includes patients and clinicians talking about their experiences of telehealth.
Latest figures published by NHS North Yorkshire and York reveal a 40 percent reduction in non-elective hospital admission and a further drop of 28 percent in A&E attendances since the arrival of Telehealth in the region.
The report, which is based on the first 91 patients in the area to use the revolutionary new technology, is further proof of the benefits Telehealth can bring to patients, their carers and the NHS itself.
In June 2010 NHS North Yorkshire and York announced it was investing in 2,000 patient systems, making it the largest Telehealth project in the UK.
Kerry Wheeler, Assistant Director of Strategy for NHS North Yorkshire and York, said: "The figures are really encouraging and this is why we are placing so much emphasis on Telehealth in North Yorkshire and York."
New white paper on transforming healthcare services
A new Tunstall white paper, produced together with NHS Alliance, Commissioning in a changing climate - how telehealth is transforming healthcare services, will also be launched at the event. The white paper highlights the benefits of telehealth to both clinicians and patients and is supported by new evidence and case studies. Copies are available from the Tunstall stand.
Tunstall and the Commonwell project
As the technology partner for the innovative CommonWell EU telehealthcare project which integrates health and social care to better support people with long term conditions at home, Tunstall is ideally placed to discuss how integrated services can promote better quality and more economically efficient solutions for the provision of health and social services, resulting in better outcomes.
As part of the project twelve partners from five European countries are participating in projects which utilise both telehealth and telecare technology. Tunstall's icp triagemanager and PNC monitoring centre software have been successfully integrated with the Care2U GP information system in Veldhoven, to allow 'live' information from the 100 patients with Chronic Heart Failure (CHF) taking part in the project to interface with information held in various other health subsystems.
