eHealth Week 2013 Successfully Concludes in Dublin

eHealth Week 201313 - 15 May 2013, Dublin, Ireland.
eHealth Week 2013, the largest annual gathering of pan-European eHealth communities, has ended having hosted two main events: the High Level eHealth Conference, co-organized by the European Commission and Irish Government as holder of the Presidency of the European Union, and WoHIT (World of Health IT Conference & Exhibition) organized by HIMSS Europe.

Participating in the event were 73 exhibiting companies, 21 companies as part of the Irish pavilion and over 160 speakers. This edition of eHealth Week gathered 2300 delegates from all over the globe, over a three day period; the event not only brings together industry partners and providers from across Europe, but also important governmental and regional decision makers.

A highlight of this year’s conference was the many VIPs who attended the conference. A delegation from the US included Farzad Mostashari, national coordinator, health IT, at the US Department of Health and Human Services; and Chandra Brown, deputy assistant secretary at the US Department of Commerce; Taoiseach Enda Kenny, Health Minister Dr. James Reilly, Governor of Massachussets, and European Commissioners. A key topic for discussion was the development of Health ecosystems, an approach which looks to bring together health service providers, health research bodes and the commercial eHealth sector to work together to solve real world health service challenges through a partnership approach.

"We are very pleased with the results of this forth edition of eHealth Week. Each year, we successfully turn this event into the meeting point of high-level speakers, professionals, decision makersand the industry with a programme of relevance for the audience" underlines Christina Roosen, Executive Director, HIMSS Europe.
