Delegates from More than 30 Countries to Share the Benefits of eHealth at WoHIT 2014

The World of Health IT 20142 - 4 April 2014, Nice, France.
The World of Health IT Conference and Exhibition 2014 (WoHIT 2014), taking place in Nice, France, presents a comprehensive international programme with 18 parallel and five plenary sessions, an mHealth symposium and a special Nordic Track as well as a dedicated French programme. WoHIT 2014, with the overriding theme of "eHealth with Benefits: Documenting Clinical and Financial Returns", will gather IT and healthcare professionals from more than 30 countries to discuss how IT can effectively improve the safety and quality of care for patients, as well as contribute to a better management of human and resources within the organizations.

One of the novelties this year is the Matchmaking experience, which allows the delegates to focus on the meeting rather than the showcasing. It will be the place to build strong business relationships during pre-arranged meetings with attendees from all over the world.

Programme highlights
The conference will kick off on Wednesday April 2nd with the mHealth Symposium focusing on ‘Why mHealth should be a priority’, during which different speakers will address key issues such as:

  • security
  • human data
  • solutions when designing a mobile strategy

The conference will inaugurally host major delegations from Emerging Markets including:

  • The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Brazil, who will share how they are facing the eHealth challenges in a roundtable discussion.
  • The Maghreb region, where delegates will learn how IT is being deployed.

A number of fascinating topics for the community will be discussed, such as the large number of investments in Health IT based on projects from Norway, the UK, France and Turkey.

The 'French Savoir-Faire' session will showcase local success stories such as:

  • Examples of ROI realized through HIT deployment
  • The pharmacy record being currently connected to hospitals
  • This year's host country, one of the largest European healthcare IT markets.

Hot topic: Continuity of Care
A theme that arouses great interest within the industry is The Continuum of Care Maturity Model (CCMM), which will have dedicated plenary and parallel sessions during the conference.

HIMSS Europe is presenting the CCMM that evaluates various aspects of delivering continual care covering both capabilities at organization and pan-organization levels. It measures the readiness of an organization to deliver continuity of care as well as the maturity of a healthcare system in the continuity of care delivery.

Personalized Medicine and Big Data are also two significant highlights of the event. As such, a complete session will be dedicated to Patient Enabling and Open Data.

Nordic track
The special Nordic track will consist of four sessions, one per country:

  • The Swedish session will be dedicated to a national initiative to enable patients to read their health record.
  • The Danish session will focus on how to identify the best telemedicine solutions.
  • The Finnish session will present new innovations for health and local opportunities within personalized medicine.
  • The Norwegian session will demonstrate innovative eHealth solutions in mental health.

Christina Roosen, Vice-President of HIMSS Europe, points out: "With this year's programme we wanted to focus on as many countries as possible to show what is happening in each region in terms of the deployment of IT in healthcare, reflecting the name of the event, which is the largest pan-European conference and exhibition in eHealth. Presenters from Europe and beyond will share successful and innovative eHealth solutions that make it possible for patients and providers to access healthcare everywhere."
