Over the next three days, the European healthcare IT community will gather in Rome to discuss how healthcare providers and specialists can improve the quality of patient care.

The HIMSS Europe CIO Summit started with an Opening Keynote, The Clinician and the EHR presented by Bert Reese, Senior Vice President and CIO, Sentara Healthcare USA and Betsy Rosenfield, Senior Consultant, Subsidium Healthcare USA. They discussed the interrelationship between the Clinician and the EHR.

The European Telemedicine Conference collocated with the Italian Presidency event Conference on eHealth opens on Tuesday 7th of October with a Joint Opening Keynote Conference on eHealth and European Telemedicine Conference by Beatrice Lorenzin, Minister of Health Italy, Bruno Gridelli, Scientific Director, International and Commercial Services Division, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center USA and John Hoyt, Executive Vice President, HIMSS USA.

The European Telemedicine Conference will focus on "How IT and specifically telemedicine can enable continuity of care". The sessions will provide a unique opportunity for all European stakeholders to join the debate and define the roadmap for continuity of care in Europe, alongside the Italian Presidency.

The Conference on eHealth organized under the Italian Presidency of the Council of the European Union in conjunction with the European Telemedicine Conference, will gather healthcare organizations, policy makers, companies, clinicians, researchers and universities to offer a comprehensive overview of telemedicine and show how it helps improving healthcare delivery.
