The European Telemedicine Conference Joins WHINN for 2015

European Telemedicine Conference 2015 21 - 22 October, Odense, Denmark.
This year the European Telemedicine Conference (ETC) 2015 will join forces with WHINN - Week of Health and INNovation; an all-encompassing event which includes conferences, innovation and business activities, which are brought together in one week all within health and innovation.

ETC will provide a unique international platform for healthcare delivery organisations, government leaders, clinicians, researchers and university faculties to address and discuss the latest innovations in telemedicine.

The event, which is in its third year, is organised in collaboration with many of the leading European organsiations in telemedicine including Badalona Serveis Assistencials, NHS 24, the Norwegian Center for Integrated Care and Telemedicine, the Odense University Hospital and UPMC.

Christina Roosen, VP, Public Affairs at HIMSS Europe said: "We are expecting more than 450 delegates from Europe and the United States to come together during the two day event, which will feature a highly interactive programme, themed networking lunches, workshops, young innovators presentations and competitions and exclusive networking opportunities. Denmark is a real pioneer in telemedicine, so it makes sense that ETC is part of the WHINN initiative so that our delegates not only get to attend the most talked-about telemedicine conference in Europe but also get the chance to take part in many other activities around the topic of health and innovation."

One of the key topics of ETC will be the telepsychiatry where Former Prime Minister of Denmark, Poul Nyrup Rasmussen, will give his view on how telepsychiatry can be used to support those affected by mental illnesses, giving them an increased sense of control over their own lives. Statistics show that mental illness accounts for 25 per cent of healthcare issues in Denmark (with a similar profile in other European countries), with mental health issues cited as the reason for 45 per cent of unemployed people in Denmark being unable to hold down regular jobs.

ETC 2015 will not only consist of the regular ETC tracks but will also highlight research on health technology and telemedicine with a special conference track dedicated to the presentation of research results hosted by Patient@home and the Odense University Hospital. Moreover, the Young Innovators Competition 2015 (YIC15), an international contest for young entrepreneurs and start-up companies focusing on new innovative ideas in the field of eHealth and telemedicine, will be presented.

The conference is an ideal destination for those who wish to gain valuable and practical knowledge that is applicable today and to prepare themselves and their organisations for the future.

Michaela Andersen, Chief Project Manager at WHINN added: "As the only dedicated telemedicine conference, ETC will undoubtedly be a popular addition to WHINN - Week of Health and INNovation. We are proud to have ETC as one of our main conferences and hope that ETC attendees will also find the time to visit other events during the WHINN week."
