WoHIT 201621 - 22 November 2016, Barcelona, Spain.
HIMSS Europe has announced a new, annual Pan-European eHealth event that will take place in Barcelona, Spain every autumn starting in November 2016.

World of Health IT (WoHIT) was the first event that HIMSS launched in Europe, in 2008, and has been growing ever since. In its new home and format, WoHIT will encompass five Summits with the mission of addressing topics that will shape the future of health and healthcare through IT. The Genomics Summit and Cybersecurity Summit will address recent developments in genetic health and how to tackle security issues and will be integrated into the WoHIT programme for the first time.

In addition, the mHealth Summit will be back for its third edition and the HIMSS Europe CIO Summit will also now be part of WoHIT in 2016.

Christina Roosen, Vice-President of Public Affairs at HIMSS Europe, announced the new event during the closing remarks of the CIO Summit in Spain last week. She said: "WoHIT 2016 will be will bring all of the HIMSS Communities together and enable those working at the heart of the care continuum to really get to grips with the last developments and best practices that are relevant to them.

"The new tracks, in combination with workshops, hospital tours and an innovative exhibition floor will create a truly unique event. Barcelona is a fantastic destination, so we are expecting a large number of delegates from all across Europe."

Spain was previously host to HIMSS Europe's largest ever event, it also has digital maturity at its heart with the largest number of HIMSS EMRAM Stage 6 hospitals in the whole of Europe and one of only three EMRAM Stage 7 hospitals.

Stephen Bryant, Managing Director of HIMSS UK and HIMSS Europe added: "Having WoHIT in Barcelona each year is a response to the demands from healthcare IT suppliers and healthcare providers for a fixed eHealth event in the autumn. WoHIT will bring with a completely new structure, programme, innovative show floor and audience.

"Our other signature event, eHealth Week, will continue to take place each spring in partnership with the European Commission and the rotating European Ministries holding the European Commission Presidencies to address strategy and policy meanwhile WoHIT will address the immediate needs and challenges of frontline healthcare IT professionals in their daily work."
