Dr Julia Fishman Joins TeleTracking Technologies

TeleTracking Technologies, Inc., and its UK subsidiary, TeleTrackingEU Ltd, today announced the appointment of paediatric specialist surgeon and former McKinsey consultant, Dr Julia Fishman, as UK vice president of clinical operations. TeleTracking Technologies provides a revolutionary real-time locating system (RTLS) that enables the real-time tracking of patient, staff and assets across a hospital. Together with improved processes, this technology provides an end-to-end solution which enables hospitals to deliver benefits in areas such as capacity management, infection control and patient flow.

Dr Fishman will be working with hospital clinicians to design the best possible care delivery system, using real-time activity data to make operational improvements. A consultant and clinician with 10 years' experience of hospitals and transformation, Dr Fishman joined TeleTracking after seeing how RTLS technology could support hospitals wanting and needing to embrace change in managing patient care.

"Moving people around a hospital is an essential part of the care delivery system," she said. "If you can get people in the right place at the right time, clinicians can deliver the right care, and clinical processes can become better orchestrated. This helps hospitals manage patient flow, reduce waiting times and provide better, more efficient care. TeleTracking's technology assists hospitals in delivering improvements, alongside changes in processes."

After working as a surgeon, Dr Fishman became a clinical specialist management consultant at McKinsey & Co. In this role she led the Hospital Improvement Networks activity and campaign, which supported improvement across operating theatres, medical productivity and integrated care. This position involved working with frontline clinical teams to design process improvements, supported by change management.

In addition to her professional work, Dr Fishman is a trustee of The Children’s Hospital Trust Fund, a charity that supports better care for babies and children in West London by funding equipment and resources.

"Improving patient care has been my mantra, it is what I care most about," she added. "When I met TeleTracking, I was struck by how everyone I spoke to bought into finding ways to transform patient care."

Michael Gallup, president, TeleTracking Technologies, recognised the value that Dr Fishman could bring to the company's UK operations, "Julia's clinical and consultancy experience contributes to TeleTracking's ambition to support UK healthcare organisations to deliver more efficient, more effective quality care along with operational improvements that provide financial benefits."

TeleTracking has helped over 850 hospitals and health systems improve capacity management for patients, clinicians and equipment. It is in use across many US hospitals, and is making significant advances with infection control and patient flow in the UK. The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust uses RTLS to help transform infection control by automatically monitoring hand hygiene events, and minimising the impact of infected patients.
