i2010 High Level Group

European Union Member States met for the first time to discuss the future of the i2010 strategy. The i2010 High Level Group held its inaugural meeting on 20 April 2006. The Group was established following a Commission Decision and is composed of one representative per Member State at Director General level. The Group decided to work, as a priority, on Convergence and content issues and on Trust and confidence, and to delegate the continuation of the work on eGovernment, eHealth and eInclusion to specific sub-groups.

The main tasks of the Group will be to discuss strategic ICT policy issues in the context of i2010 and in the wider context of the Lisbon agenda. They will also review the effectiveness of i2010, and give advice on possible improvements and adjustments on i2010 actions, using benchmarking to monitor the i2010 implementation and policy evolution. A work programme will be adopted every year by the group.

There will also be a forum to exchange experiences and views on issues covered by the Lisbon National Reform Plans in the areas covered by i2010.

The Group will be composed of one representative per Member State at Director General level. This Group will be chaired by the Commission and will meet up to three times per year. The Group will be open to observers from candidate and EFTA countries. The i2010 Group is an advisory group and falls under the classification of "experts group".
