"At Philips, we believe there is always a way to make life better," said Egbert van Acht, Business Leader Health & Wellness, and per October 1, 2017, Chief Business Leader of the Personal Health businesses at Royal Philips. "The digital platforms and intelligent solutions we are showcasing at this year’s IFA are designed to give consumers better insights into their health and greater control over it, and an easy access to professional expertise and advice. They span all stages of life, from vulnerable newborns to seniors keen to maintain their independence. Propositions like Care Orchestrator, which builds on our world leadership in sleep therapy solutions, are proof that Philips is at the forefront of digital health."
Powered by Philips Healthsuite, Care Orchestrator is Philips' patient management solution for people living at home with chronic sleep and respiratory conditions. It unites patients, homecare providers, physicians and insurance companies within a single, cloud-based platform. Care Orchestrator allows clinicians to provide personalized support, coaching and education to patients at home, and supports care providers with actionable data to make fast, informed clinical decisions. As part of Care Orchestrator, Philips' DreamMapper app allows people to track progress at home. It helps them to use their sleep therapy on average 25 percent more nights [1] and improves their adherence to treatment.
With more than 2.5 billion nights of cloud-based sleep therapy data collected over 10 years from more than 5 million connected sleep therapy and ventilation devices, Philips is continuously leveraging its growing connected sleep landscape to innovate new and impactful services to help people sleep and breathe better all over the world.
Philips' latest innovations showcasing at IFA 2017
Consumer product solutions presented by Philips at IFA 2017 that promote healthy living and enable people to manage their health at home include:
Philips Avent uGrow digital parenting platform
Designed to support parents and their baby’s healthy development, uGrow is the first medical-grade baby app of its kind [2] with connected devices, giving personalized advice that matters. The uGrow interactive app features articles and insights created with a panel of healthcare professionals, and connects wirelessly to the Philips Avent smart baby monitor and smart ear thermometer. In 2018, uGrow will work with new Philips devices, including a connected bottle tracker that works together with the Philips Avent Natural bottle to monitor the time, volume and duration of a baby’s feeds; and the Philips Connected Air Purifier, as well the Philips Hue lighting system. The uGrow user experience will be further enhanced by the addition of Amazon Echo voice activation later this year.
Philips Air integrated solutions
Over 20% of the world’s population suffers from respiratory allergies such as hay fever, allergic asthma or allergic rhinitis [3]. Levels of outdoor air pollution are on the rise, with 92% of the world’s population living in places where air quality levels exceed WHO limits [4], and indoor air quality can be two to five times worse than outdoors [5]. These circumstances mean that people are increasingly looking to alleviate their respiratory health challenges. Philips addresses this need with its integrated solutions of air purifiers and sensors that adjust to the indoor environment and personal needs of the user. The accompanying Air Matters app (available in 52 countries) provides real time insight into the indoor and outdoor air quality and allergen levels. These integrated solutions and data enable people suffering from respiratory difficulties to manage and reduce exposure to irritants and allergens (such as pollen, dust mite, pet dander and mold spores) that may trigger their symptoms, thus protecting their health.
Philips digital oral care management platform
The Philips Sonicare DiamondClean Smart is a complete oral care solution for a healthier mouth. Together with the Philips Sonicare Breath care system, Philips offers unique connected technologies and services to inspire and empower people to take better care of their oral health in one platform. The DiamondClean Smart toothbrush brings together the latest in Philips Sonicare innovation and performance, giving users exceptional results with new, high performance brush heads, personalized coaching and guidance from smart sensor technology and an intuitive brushing experience; so they can be more confident that they are taking outstanding care of their mouth, teeth, and gums [6]. The Philips Sonicare Breath care system, featuring Philips' new connected breath analyzer, measures, tracks and helps people address the impact of oral bacteria on breath quality, helping users to improve their breath and oral care habits. The Philips Sonicare app is now a 'virtual hub' for personal oral healthcare, enabling users to manage their brushing and breath quality on a daily basis, share results with their dental practitioners, and have personalized guidance and advice at their fingertips.
Philips Lumea Prestige and Lumea IPL app
Increasingly, women are looking for beauty solutions personal to them. The launch of the new Philips Lumea Prestige, an innovative at-home IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) hair removal device, has been designed with this in mind and developed to suit the differing shapes, curves and skin tones of women around the world. The device features four tailored attachments for women's hair removal requirements: body, bikini area, face and armpit. This makes the new Philips Lumea Prestige the world’s first IPL with curved attachments for each body area. Additionally, its new SmartSkin sensor measures skin tone at the push of a button so that women know which setting to use for their skin. The Lumea IPL app, used in combination with the device, takes this one step further by guiding them through a treatment plan specifically tailored to their individual needs. With up to 92% hair reduction in just three treatments, the device is also perfect for women looking for great results in a short time-frame.
Other products being showcased by Philips at this year's IFA include new domestic appliances, coffee makers, personal care, and home monitoring solutions.
